Here is to the year of recovery

Dear valued RICTS family,

The past 2 years have been challenging for us all.

During the pandemic, the business world was turned on its head and the country’s economy was downgraded to its worst status in history. The worst part is that the pandemic continues to be a dilemma for businesses and their employees.

The past few years have truly been a recipe for disaster and we starting to see the effects thereof. South Africa’s unemployment percentage took a turn for the worse as businesses were forced to close, and as a result of the increasing unemployment rate, the poverty in our communities continues to increase daily.

However, amid all the negativity, RICTS continued to grow and sustain itself. In other words, we are truly blessed. We were fortunate to have maintained (and even increased) our employment numbers. Not only were we able to help see our existing employees through these difficult times, but we were able to take new team members under our wing, helping them find their feet again in an economy that can only be described as volatile.

We had to make some tough decisions over the past two years, to ensure the survival of the business. We had to find efficient ways of making sure we were able to sustain the business through this pandemic and in the altered economic landscape that was left in its wake.

We restructured the business, where necessary, to run all departments optimally and efficiently to ensure that the business as a whole could sustain itself. This process may linger and require continuous review in order to find the structures most suited for the business and its future business model/s.

Over the past two years, RICTS has been partnered with a company called Purestrive, helping us to find the most efficient processes that align with our stakeholders’ and shareholders’ vision and goals. During our partnership, Puestrive has assisted us with the implementation of new executive and organogram structures.

For RICTS, the positive achievements of 2021  have far outweighed the negatives:

1. We introduced new effective executive structures and divisional organograms with the help of Purestrive.

2. We launched our Learnership Programmes in February/ March 2022.

3. Our permanent training officer started with RICTS in February 2022 and has already set up his training facility in order to drive the training schedules set out for March/April 2022.

4. Our new Training Academy, spearheaded by our Human Capital Executive, is well on its way, helping RICTS make strides into building our communities effectively, changing one life at a time.

5. We Expanded our manufacturing plant, including a newly built factory, and are busy with the commissioning of our new plant and equipment.

6. We acquired more space at Power for our Engineering Department as we started to outgrow the existing space within a 2-year period.

7. Our engineering machinery is fully operational, and our expanded polystyrene machinery has commenced with commissions. We anticipate the latter to be done before the end of 2022’s 3rd Term.

8. We have improved our business culture by introducing the 5 pillars of a functional, high-performance team, creating a positive culture within the business. This approach is spearheaded by our partners/executives and managers.

9. We are actively incorporating our Values and Virtues in all facets of the business by increasing our accountability towards our team members.

10. We have closed out all outstanding issues on past projects, including but not limited to the KwaZulu-Natal/Eastern Cape regions, and have closed out almost 90% of all our past overdue Final Accounts. All of this thanks to our Operational Executive and his team.

11. The research and development of our products and method statements are ever-changing and is growing in stature. Thanks to this we are continuing to come up with amazing designs.

Our business environment is ever-changing. Because of this, it is everybody’s responsibility to make use of their wisdom and knowledge to propel the business into new levels of excellence.

“I would like to extend my gratitude to all of you, our valued clients. I know 2022 was a difficult year for various reasons, but you have persevered and pressed on through it all.

We pray that God’s continuous favour will continue to hover over us as we remain faithful and trust in the plan He has for us all. I said the following in 2020, and I will say it again in 2022 as: Our best years are still ahead of us. The best is yet to come.

My mission in life remains the same: I will continue to strive and build a successful business in order to create opportunities for others. As Theodore Roosevelt said; The Victory belongs to the Man (and Woman) in the Arena;

As we prepare to finish the race we started, let us not lose heart, let us not lose sight of the bigger picture, let us not lose sight of our vision, let us not lose our faith. Let us finish this race with all the strength invested in us with the end goal in mind.

May the Lord bless you and protect you; May His face shine on you and be gracious to you; May He continue to favour you and grant you the peace you need in this life and in this season.

My prayer for all of you is that you will continue to live by the values and virtues of the business in your personal lives as well.

I know 2022 will be an excellent year for all of us in all spheres. The best is yet to come. Blessings to you all.”

Yours sincerely,

Rodger Ian Carter
